This cinematic lighting design was conceptualized by Lam Partners in Cambridge, MA for the Billy Wilder Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Lam Partners designed a system of LED strips with remote drivers, concealed behind wall and ceiling panels. The strips were hung from the ceiling with thin wire, giving the illusion that they are floating. The effect is that the audience member has jumped to warp speed and had begun to “accelerate in space.”

Philadelphia design firm Qb3 renovated the interior of an 1800’s masonry building to contain an architecturaly clean and elegant space for gallery339 in Center City. Using the limitations of the old construct, they created a new interior lining and punctured the ceiling to flood the space with natural light.

There is a new urbanism sprouting from good design. The Vale Lofts in Tempe Arizona designed by Will Bruder Architects are a great example of community living within the urban fabric. They offer a beautiful architectural design, courtyard of gardens as well as commercial amenities with access to urban life.
